The VP-400 R-Evolution system is a complete systems upgrade package for the Lancair Evolution. It upgrades the electrical system to an independent dual-bus architecture for enhanced fault tolerance and replaces the existing mechanical circuit breakers, relays, timers, black boxes, and solenoids with an integrated solid-state system.
Vertical Power’s electronic circuit breaker technology and the Runway Seeker are simply unmatched in the certified world. But certification has its place, of course, and Vertical Power recognizes that. Therefore, whenever possible Vertical Power has observed and incorporated the engineering principles and requirements of certification to ensure safe and airworthy avionics for the owner-builder. Vertical Power uses the FAA’s recognized RTCA DO-160 guidance in hardware design criteria for robustness and reliability whenever possible.
VP-400 in Lancair Evolution with G900 and Sorcerer Autopilot
The VP-400 R-Evolution package consists of:
Upgrade to dual independent bus electrical system architecture, including MCU upgrade.
Upgraded ergonomic instrument panel.
Built-in backup EFIS and GPS with backup battery, including Runway Seeker technology.
Triple power distribution units for electronic circuit breaker control of all aircraft power.
Bus B alternator kit for engine.
Upgraded climate control system, with option for second cabin fan.
Upgraded pressurization system tied in with flight plan on Garmin G900 (automatic destination field elevation entry).
Integrated cabin pressure alarm system.
Solid-state controller for landing gear, including intelligent landing gear warning system and hydraulic pressure sensors.
Integrated ground power management system.
Upgraded de-ice controller and de-ice system display. Integrated prop de-ice timer and automatic ice-door bypass system.
Upgraded seat heater controller, including variable temperature seat heaters.
The VP-400 R-Evolution package works with all engine options for the Evolution airframe as well as TruTrak and Garmin autopilots.
